Is It Worth the Upgrade for Home Sim Golfers?
FSX Play vs FSX 2020 — Is It Worth the Upgrade for Home Sim Golfers?
🏌️♂️ From Bogey to Bank Series — Gear Review Edition
If you're like me — hacking away in your home simulator setup and trying to grind your way up the PinSeekers leaderboard — you've probably asked this question:
Is FSX Play actually worth the upgrade from FSX 2020?
Well, I’ve used both. A lot. Here’s the breakdown from a real guy swinging in a mountain town shop — not a pro, not sponsored. Just a bald dude with a beard and a dream.
FSX 2020: The Classic OG
Before I upgraded, FSX 2020 was my go-to. It’s stable, simple, and gives you what you need:
– Clean user interface
– Practice modes with data display
– Decent graphics (nothing fancy)
– Straightforward play
It did the job — but that’s about it. And to be honest, it felt like a utility more than a game. Like using a spreadsheet to track your golf swing.
FSX Play: What Changed?
When I upgraded to FSX Play, I immediately noticed a few key things:
– ✅ Way better graphics — courses look more alive
– ✅ Immersive environments — shadows, lighting, trees blowing, water reflections
– ✅ Smooth HUD and easier to navigate
– ✅ Full compatibility with the PinSeekers Game App
– ✅ More enjoyable gameplay overall
It still gives me all my swing data from the GCQuad, but the experience is just cleaner and way more modern.

So… Is FSX Play Worth It?
If you’re just practicing and don’t care about visuals? FSX 2020 is still solid.
But if you want:
– A more immersive experience
– A cleaner interface
– Access to PinSeekers for challenge play and potential prize money
👉 Then yeah — FSX Play is 100% worth the upgrade.
For me, it turned sim golf from “data grind” to “I’m legit having fun out here” — and it’s made my journey From Bogey to Bank way more exciting.
My Setup (if you’re curious):
– Launch monitor: GCQuad
– Software: FSX Play
– Simulator space: 40×40 mountain-town garage aka The Bogey Bunker
– Current challenge goal: Break par + finish Top 10 on PinSeeker Game App leaderboard
